Stefan was born in Carinthia, the southern part of Alpine Austria. Growing up enjoying the elements of nature in this amazing part of the world formed his passion for nature, science, photography and outdoor sports. He studied physical chemistry at the University of Graz, Austria where he finished his PhD thesis and project on scattering methods and food structures. After some project management experience in industry he relocated to Australia to take on a position in thermodynamic modeling at the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organistion in Newcastle before relocating to Melbourne and joining the Boyd Group. Here is pursuing his research on the self-assembly thermodynamics of food molecules, building new functional ‘nano-scale’ food and drug delivery systems and spends his weekends as bookworm at the beach or in the Victorian bush searching for rocks to climb on.
